William G. Lane
Department of Computer Engineering
1988
"Dr.
Lane's opinion of a student's ability is highly regarded in industry.
Corporations often contact him when they have job openings. They tell
him of their needs in an employee, permanent or cooperative
education, and Dr. Lane is often able to find just the right student.
Dr. Lane keeps all students posted on information regarding job
availability. In my own experience, Dr. Lane set up an interview for
me with Hewlett Packard. Because of this interview, I was a summer
employee with Hewlett Packard and have been offered permanent
employment upon graduation. I am very appreciative of his help."

"Professor Lane is the most senior member of the Computer Science
faculty. He is also the department's most active and sought-after
advisor because students are aware of his caring attitude as well as
his willingness to meet his advisees during time periods that are
usually the most desirable for his students.
Professor Lane possesses a mastery of institutional regulations,
policies and procedures. He has also been instrumental in updating
departmental advising forms and records. There is no doubt that CSCI
advising has been greatly enhanced by Prof. Lane's activities."

"Dr.
Lane has been my academic advisor for the past three years. Since
that time, he has proved to be an excellent advisor. His
interpersonal skills and knowledge have helped guide me in the right
direction to prepare myself for a successful future. I particularly
like his style of creating an individual file for each student he
advises."
