Edward E. Seagle, Jr.
Department of Recreation Administration
1992
"As a
transfer student from CSU, Long Beach, I was greeted by Ed with
enthusiasm. His genuine concern for me as a student gave me a sense
of belonging, which was exactly what I had hoped for after coming
from such a large university. He has continued to take interest in my
academic affairs, and I have often met with him seeking advice and
information."

"To
be quite honest, Ed Seagle is the major factor behind my decision to
declare a recreation major. Because of his enthusiasm, knowledge, and
patience during our first meeting I decided to join the field.
After Ed
became my advisor, I was continually impressed with the personal
attention he gave to me and other students. He was interested in both
my professional growth and personal achievements. This interest was
expressed through informal meetings after class, phone calls and
advising sessions. In a large university a caring professor makes all
the difference.
I was
also lucky enough to receive Ed as my internship advisor. He supplied
me with leads on internship positions and made calls and
recommendations on my behalf. He also did quite a bit of counseling
and listening before I finally chose an internship at the Hyatt
Regency Sacramento. I think it was very important to have this
professional advice and guidance for the first venture into the
corporate world."

"Ed
Seagle has proven to maintain the following qualities both in and out
of work situations; easily approachable and available, personable,
resourceful, perceptive to others' qualities and needs, a motivator
and shows extreme support to all students. With these qualities, Ed
has been an outstanding advisor and friend though-out my seven
semesters of education within the recreation department.
Ed has
taken some difficult challenges which have helped all the students
within the recreation department. He has developed a manual for
students preparing for their internship titled ABC's of Successful
Job Hunting. This manual has had a significant impact on students
receiving both internships and jobs after graduation."
