ELM/EPT Requirements

Entry Level Math (ELM) –

The Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) exam assesses your level of ability in math through beginning and intermediate algebra, and plane geometry. If you wish, you may take this test more than once to improve your score, but you are not required to do so because you are not required to pass the ELM. Unless exempt, all new undergraduate students must take the ELM prior to enrollment at CSU, Chico. Your ELM score is used to determine if you are ready to enroll immediately in a GE math course or need to take a prerequisite course first, such as intermediate algebra or beginning algebra .
