Information Fair

Get connected to Chico State’s campus and community programs, services, and resources as you wind your way through the booths and displays at the Information Fair. Each booth will be staffed by knowledgeable representatives to answer all your questions and concerns.

Free BBQ and Live Music

After your department meeting, join the faculty and staff at CSU, Chico at a free BBQ for all new students! You will be able to enjoy live music and peruse the Information Fair to get yourself better acquainted with your new campus and community.

Classroom Tours

This sixty- to- ninety minute classroom tour departs from the Advising & Orientation Office and will help you find your way around campus while learning about the variety of resources and services available to Chico State students. Bring your class schedule, the tour guide will tailor the campus tour to help you learn more about where your classes will be, where your major department is, and any other places you may be interested in learning more about.

Get Your Wildcat ID Card

Get your official CSU, Chico campus identification card – the Wildcat Card! Please bring an official form of photo ID (driver’s license, passport, or Military ID) with you.

This is an opportunity for University Village residents to relax and get acquainted after a busy day of moving in.

Introduction to Computer Resources

This one-hour workshop is your opportunity to learn first hand about the university’s computer resources, including department and open access computer labs, obtaining a wildcat email account, the Internet, the Library Research Station, training opportunities, and remote computing.

Chico Bike Tour

This is an informal bike tour of downtown Chico and Bidwell Park by Adventure Outings. We’d love to show you some of our favorite spots in town and help you learn to navigate your way by bike. The event is FREE – all you need is a bike. We will meet at the Free Speech Area and depart from there.

Free Comedy Show

Enjoy your evening with friends at this FREE comedy show. Comedian Buzz Sutherland performs at colleges throughout the country and has won countless awards for making others laugh!  On top of an evening of laughter and fun, there will be drawings to win lots of free prizes! Just bring the ticket you got at the Friday morning Convocation & Wildcat Welcome. You must be present to win!

Sacramento River Float Trip

Floating down the cool waters of the Sacramento River is a great way to explore outside of Chico. Adventure Outings will be your guides on this fun, laid-back day trip. We’ll provide transportation and a variety of boats, from rafts to inflatable kayaks to canoes. Cost is $30. This trip usually fills fast, so please sign up in advance at Adventure Outings in the Wildcat Recreation Center or call 898-4011 for more info.

Chico City Bus Tours

Associated Students Sustainability Program. Come take a tour and learn how to use the city bus! Tours leave from Whitney Hall at 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m on Saturday August 22nd. Bus trips will go to the North Valley Plaza, where Trader Joes and the Cinemark are located, as well as to the Chico Mall on 20th Street, where you can find Grocers, Best Buy, Target, JC Penny’s and many other stores. Riding the bus is easy, cheap, and the best choice for the environment!

Sustainability Involvement Faire

Want to get involved and help the planet? Make friends while making a difference on campus. Representatives from all the sustainability-related student organizations, clubs, and programs on campus will be recruiting new members. Find out what each group is working on this semester and whether they are offering internships, paid positions, or volunteer opportunities. 2-minute presentations from each group will begin at 5:15pm. Each group will have an information table for browsing. Snacks and beverages will be served. Participating organizations include:

Upper Bidwell Park Swim

Join Adventure Outings to discover some amazing places in Upper Bidwell Park. The park is the recreation spot of choice for the community and students. Seek sanctuary from the heat with us as we discover the various swimming holes and get to know other Freshman students. Cost is $15 which includes transportation and a light snack. The Downtown Chico Business Association presents “Thursday Night Market”. Come and explore Downtown Chico’s Certified Farmers Market offering the season’s freshest assortments of fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, nuts, herbs, and house plants along with jewelry, food, and non-profit organizations.
