Your Parent Program

Talking the (Academic) Talk

Professional staff members from Advising and Orientation will talk with you about the university requirements, course selection strategies, and the registration procedures your student will learn about during orientation. You’ll learn the “vocabulary” and tips you can pass along to your student.

University Class

Here’s your chance to participate in an interactive example of a university class taught by a CSU, Chico faculty member. Experience college-level instruction Chico style and gain insight into the cognitive challenges your student will face.

Student Life and Success Workshops

Your son or daughter’s personal and academic well-being is important to all of us. University staff will present a variety of workshops on topics ranging from student safety to life skills needed to survive the first year of college, and more. You’ll have a choice of attending several workshops.

Information Fair

Take the opportunity to direct your questions to representatives from programs such as Financial Aid, Housing, Student Health Center, Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center (CADEC), Study Abroad, Honors, and more.

Campus Tour (optional)

A walk through our beautiful campus will give you insight into the variety of services and resources available to you. During the tour, your guide will answer any questions you have about the campus, community, and student life.

Meals

Sessions include coffee and orange juice in the morning, and lunch.
