Distance Education Course Equivalents

Distance Education Course Equivalents Distance and online courses may be taken to satisfy CSU, Chico General Education (GE), major and minor requirements, and other graduation requirements. The following table of CSU, Chico courses and equivalents is designed to help students find courses that may be taken online from other institutions to meet specific CSU, Chico requirements. The table includes CSU, Chico and specific Liberal Studies required courses comparable to California Articulation Number (CAN) qualified courses offered online by California colleges and universities. The California Articulation Number (CAN) System is a cross-referenced numbering system for transferable lower-division courses commonly required in university majors. The system assures students that courses qualified for a specific CAN designation at one participating campus will be accepted in lieu of the comparable CAN qualified course at any other participating campus. For a complete list of CAN qualified courses for each participating campus, please visit the California Articulation Number System website at www.cansystem.org. Students who are interested in enrolling in a specific Distance Education program should consult with their major or department advisor. Information regarding CSU, Chico Distance Education programs is available at: www.rce.csuchico.edu/online. The Liberal Studies OnLine Program can be accessed at liberalstudies.calstate.edu. For more detailed information on distance delivered courses in California, visit the California Virtual Campus website at www.cvc.edu. IMPORTANT: Students must complete the minimum residence requirement of 30 units in order to graduate. Twenty-four of these units must be upper division, 12 must be in the major, and 9 must be General Education. Courses taken at other institutions (including distance and online courses) may not be applied to the CSU, Chico residence requirement.
