Returning, CSU Chico Students

Returning CSU, Chico Students are those students who have previously attended CSU, Chico and are returning after being absent for one or more semesters. All returning students who have attended another school during their absence are required to provide official transcripts to the Student Records and Registration Office in MLIB 180.

Students Who Are Returning From a Planned Educational Leave (PEL)

Students who file a Planned Educational Leave (PEL) form maintain their continuing status and catalog rights. No undergraduate admissions application is required for students who are returning from a planned educational leave, if the student returns before or at the time indicated on their PEL form.

Returning Students Who Did Not File a PEL (Or the PEL Has Expired)

Students who never filed a PEL or whose PEL has expired lose their catalog rights and must pay the $55 application fee when mailing or submitting a completed undergraduate admissions application to the Student Records and Registration Office in MLIB180.

Students Returning After Formal or Administrative Withdrawal

Withdrawal during the first four weeks of the semester Students who formally withdrew from all of their classes during the first four weeks of classes and failed to submit a Planned Educational Leave (PEL) form must pay the $55 application and mail or submit a completed undergraduate admissions application to the Student Records and Registration Office in MLIB180.

Withdrawal after the first four weeks of the semester No university admissions application or application fee is due for those students who formally withdrew after the first four weeks of classes and are returning the semester following their formal withdrawal.

  • Students who withdraw after the first four weeks of classes and do not intend on returning the following semester must file a PEL at the time of their withdrawal.
  • Students who withdrew and failed to return the following semester, and failed to file a PEL (or their PEL has expired), please refer to Students Returning But Never Filed a PEL (or the PEL Has Expired).

Students Returning From Intrasystem Visitor or Concurrent Enrollment

Intrasystem Visitor Status No university admissions application or application fee is due for those students who are returning from the Intrasystem Visitor Status Program, as long as the student submitted a Planned Educational Leave (PEL) form prior to leaving CSU, Chico. Returning Intrasystem Visitor students who failed to file a PEL and/or their PEL has expired, please refer to Returning Students Who Did Not File a PEL (or the PEL Has Expired).
Concurrent Enrollment Students who are on Concurrent Enrollment are continually enrolled at CSU, Chico. Consequently, no university admissions application or application fee is due for those students who were enrolled in the Concurrent Enrollment Program.

Students Requesting Readmission After Academic Disqualification

Students who have been academically disqualified must submit a letter of appeal to the Academic Status Committee before the established deadlines listed in the "Academic Calendar." The "Academic Calendar" is located in the front section of The University Catalog. Students Requesting Readmission After Disciplinary or Administrative Suspension

Students who have been suspended from the university as a result of a disciplinary action must go to or call Student Judicial Affairs in Kendall Hall 110 at 530-898-6897.
