Official Withdrawal Procedures
California State University, Chico

Prior to First Day of Classes
Students who have registered for classes for the up-and-coming term, and have since decided not to attend CSUC, should drop all of their classes via their Portal account.  If a student wants to drop all of their courses, but the Portal is not available, the student should call the Student Records and Registration Office at 530.898-5142 for assistance.

  • Financial aid students must contact the Financial Aid Office at 530.898-6451
  • Continuing students that wish to return in a future semester must submit a completed Planned Educational Leave (PEL) Form to the Student Records &  Registration Office
  • New undergraduate students must contact the Admissions Office at 530.898-6321
  • New graduate students must contact the Graduate School at 530.898-6880

Effective the First Day of Classes
As of the first day of the semester, any undergraduate student wishing to officially withdraw from the university must notify the Student Records & Registration Office in Meriam Library 180 to initiate the process.  It is in the best interest of the student to come in person. However, students that are out of town can call the Student Records & Registration Office for assistance at 530.898-5142.

Graduate students need to initiate this process at the Graduate School.

Note: Students do not need to request a refund of their fees as refunds will be automatically processed by the Financial Services Office within 3-4 weeks.  Questions regarding refunds should be directed to Student Financial Services at 530.898-5936.
